For this week’s Piano Cover, we got a classic song from one of the best bands of all time. Achtung Baby has always been my favorite U2 album (with All You Can’t Leave Behind being a close second), and “One” is its emotional center, both beautiful and heartbreaking. I only hope I did this timeless song justice.

2) Journey – Don’t Stop Believin’
3) Bruce Springsteen – Thunder Road
Yesterday was a big day for the Bryan Bros Band! Bob and Mike were featured on 60 Minutes–if you didn’t blink you might have seen David in there for about half a second ;)–and we released our new single, “Open My Heart.” The song is a tribute to Andre Agassi, and was inspired by his book Open. We were really moved reading about Andre’s trials and tribulations growing up in the world of tennis and playing on the tour, and wanted to come out to support him especially when so many criticized the behavior he detailed in his book. We believe it takes a lot of guts to confess the things you’ve done, and that a lot of people can learn and be inspired by Andre’s courage and fighting spirit in the face of adversity.
Check out the book (it’s a great read), and we hope you enjoy the song that was inspired by it.
Thanks for your support,
Bob, Mike, and David

Lyrics:
I thought I was afraid
I thought I had no place to go
I was feeling so ashamed
So I shut my heart and closed the door
And it feels like baby lately I’m on my own
All the words I couldn’t say
All the feelings bottled up inside
They’ve been weighing down on me
It’s a truth I can no longer hide
And it feels like lately I’m barely hangin’ on
And it feels like lately I’m barely even here
I gotta open my heart
I gotta open my heart and let love in
I gotta open my heart
I gotta open my heart and let love in
Cause I’ve done some things
I know I’m not supposed to
And I’ve done some things
I’m ready to own up to
To open my heart and let love in
Now I walk the halls I raised
And see hope on the faces inside
All the lives that I can change
Now I can hold my head up high
Cause it feels like baby I found my way back home
And it feels like baby I finally see so clear
I gotta open my heart
I gotta open my heart and let love in
I gotta open my heart
I gotta open my heart and let love in
Cause I’ve done some things
I know I’m not supposed to
And I’ve done some things
I’m ready to own up to
To open my heart and let love in
So pumped for this week’s video! This is my 2nd video (after “Fireflies”) to feature piano, guitar and vocals each in 1 take, and an awesome video edit by my buddy, bandmate, and history-making #1 doubles tennis player Bob Bryan.
I always enjoyed the music by my fellow San Franciscans in Train, and like the rest of the world, their orchestral 2001 hit “Drops of Jupiter” stayed in my head for months. I’m happy to see this perfectly catchy new single tearing up the charts, which was so much fun to learn and cover.
Hope you enjoy,
David

A simply beautiful song, one of my favorites. If you enjoy this tune, check out Gold and Heartbreaker, two early Ryan Adams albums that are up there with Springsteen and Billy Joel among my all-time favs.
At our CD Release Parties in California this February for our debut album Let It Rip, #1 world-ranked men’s doubles tennis team Bob and Mike Bryan and I had some fun mashing together the Black Eyed Peas’ “I Gotta Feeling” with our single “Let It Rip”. Here’s Bob and I playing an acoustic medley of the two songs in San Francisco while the Bryan Bros were in town playing the 2010 SAP Open.
The Bryan Bros Band featuring David Baron will be on tour playing shows at clubs and at tennis tournaments throughout the spring, so be sure to visit our website at http://www.BryanBrosBand.com to view tour dates and to hear our debut album Let It Rip.
Peace,
David
